The Virginia Fire Chiefs’ Association (VFCA) is very excited to deliver the next Residential Virginia Fire Officer Academy (VFOA) in June 2025. This 6-Day residential program is designed to develop the leadership skills of aspiring and new company officers across the Commonwealth of Virginia. All meals and lodging will be provided. Ensure you are submitting your application to the correct academy. Applications submitted to the incorrect academy will not be considered. Additionally, please check all of your calendars (personal, department, etc.) prior to applying to prevent any conflicts.
Selected students will arrive in Richmond on Sunday and will be required to stay in provided lodging. Course work will occur from Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon.
THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL ACADEMY AND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE 100% ATTENDANCE
About the Virginia Fire Officer Academy
The Virginia Fire Officer Academy is a week-long residential program designed to develop current or aspiring company officers. The theme of the VFOA is “Safety Through Leadership” and is based on the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. The program is focused on improving leadership techniques, personal accountability, and fostering the cultural change required to improve firefighter safety.
This program could not exist without the support of the members and partners of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association and the Virginia Fire Chiefs Foundation. You can donate to the Virginia Fire Officers Academy through the Foundation either by mail or online. All donations are tax-deductible.

You will find all the updates about the VFOA on these pages. We also would like to see your support by joining the Virginia Fire Chief Associations Company Officer Section.
