Federal/Military Section

Welcome and thank you for your interest and engagement with the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association – Federal/ Military Section. This section continues to serve as a voice and advocate for all Federal/ Military fire and emergency service organizations throughout the commonwealth. Our section is fully committed to continuous advancement of education, leadership, and advocacy throughout federal/military fire and emergency service departments in Virginia.

In 2020, members have promoted the development of a variety of fire service initiatives that have directly impacted federal agencies throughout Virginia. Section members have re-engaged in providing a Federal/Military based educational day at the annual Virginia Fire and Rescue Conference covering topics in leadership, health and wellness, physical fitness, peer support, emergency communication, and current federal challenges. We have consistently provided valuable content and messages through VFCA social media and the Commonwealth Chief publication. Section members have remained current not only on federal but statewide legislation and discussed impacts of support. Members have evaluated peer support assets throughout Virginia and are assisting in developing a statewide reference/ approach.

Our sections membership is comprised of representatives from a multitude of federal and military fire and emergency service agencies. The US Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Space Force, Bureau of Land Management, Veterans Administration, Defense Logistics Agency, Department of Homeland Security, and Virginia National Guard all represented. All ranks and positions are accepted and encouraged to join and assist in continued pursuit of our mission.

This year we will continue to provide support, coordination, and influence while pursuing VFCA and section goals. As we continue to grow in membership, so will the need for emerging leaders to provide their perspective on a variety of upcoming opportunities and challenges.

On behalf of the VFCA Board of Directors, thank you for your interest, time and membership to an organization devoted to personal, professional, organizational, state and fire service wide continuous advancement.

Respectfully,
George Beodeker, Assistant Chief, NRP
